August Indie month

This August as you can guess by the title will be indie month. Before I started this blog I knew nothing about indie polish brands, I only owned polishes from the mainstream polish brands, but by doing this blog I am learning more about nail polish, I have came across some amazing indie polish brands, I swear these indie brands make more unique and sometimes even produce better quality polishes than their mainstream counterparts. This month I just wanted to showcase some of the indie polish brands I have purchased from, there are many more out there and I will defiantly feature more on the blog so keep a eyes peeled for that. If you would like to check out the brands I am going to feature this month I will link their sites down below so please check them out.

Danglefootpolish

Flash Nails

I really hope you enjoy indie month if you have any questions please feel free to comment

Nail polish tag

Recently I have been obsessed with watching people on youtube or reading peoples blogs, and I have noticed a lot of nail tags being posted recently and I know I just posted the nail polish obsession tag a few weeks back but I am going to post another, sorry if you hate these tag posts please feel free to write a comment and tell me what you would like to see on this blog.

Questions

How many nail polishes do you have?
Last time I counted I had just over 300 but that was a few months ago so probably 350 maybe a bit more I know it's a bit excessive and I have no excuse for it I just love nail polish.

What is your favourite brand of polish?
Like I said in my previous tag I like china glaze for there diversity of colours, but I have recently been getting into indie polish and some indie's have some amazing colours and finishes and they are just so unique, so its kinda hard to pick just one brand.

Do you like or hate crackle polish?
I liked it when it first came out because it was just totally different, I am like a kid with a new toy play with it for five minutes then never play with it again, so I don't really wear it now.

What was the brand of your very first polish?
Probably Miss Sporty or Nails inc.

If you have a nail polish line, what would it be called?
I really haven't thought about this, maybe KP my which are my initials and call it kute polish, there probably is a brand out their called kute polish and I am sorry if there is, and if the kardashian's use k for anything well so can I.

What nail polish colour does not look good on you?
I'm not the biggest fan of red polish so when I do occasionally paint my nails red I feel like it just doesn't suit me, also certain tones of yellow polish, but I'm sure most people find yellow polish hard to wear.

What nail polish shades look good on you?
Deeper colours like a navy blue or plum's.

Name two of your nail art best friends?
I really don't do much nail art I only really have a few dotting tools which I use occasionally and I have a nail stamper and a few plates, but that stamper and I aren't friends, every time I try to use it I muck up and its just a disaster.

What's the best nail polish gift you have received?
Just receiving any nail polish present is a bonus, but years and years ago I received a whole collection of avon polishes, that was over 5 years now but I still have them all.

Thank you so much for reading this post and if you have any suggestions for future posts please comment below.

Essie - Flowerista collection

Garden variety

Garden variety this
polish is more green
Garden variety is a deep teal polish that leans more green than blue. The formulation for this polish is ok, the first coat applied slightly patchy and the consistency was on the thinner side but it's not so thin that it runs off the brush it was a was fine to work with. The second coat really helped this polish it made the polish look brighter and was fully opaque, unfortunately my swatch picture made this polish look a lot more blue than it really is so I apologise for that, the polish has a more green than the picture shows.

Flowerista

Flowerista
Flowerista is a deep purple polish with a slight hint of pink. The formulation of this polish was ok it was nothing special slightly on the thinner side, I would suggest you don't load the brush with polish when painting with this polish it helped me for the application. The first coat of this polish was fine not patchy but it does benefit from a second coat, I'm not blown away by this colour its certainly not unique, if you look at some of the other spring/summer collections from this year you will find a similar colour of polish to this one, all in all the polish was just ok nothing special.

Blossom dandy

Blossom dandy
Blossom dandy is a light green blue polish almost a sea foam colour. The consistency of this polish is good its not to thick or thin it was easy to apply, the first coat did apply slightly patchy but the second coat really did make the polish pop. Not really a lot to complain about with this polish the colour is nice but nothing really unique and formulation was good.

Petal pusher

Petal pusher
Petal pusher is a medium grey with a hint of purple, blue tones running though it. This polish could defiantly be a one coater but just be careful when applying because the consistency is on the thinner side. I am a fan of grey polishes and I do like this one, I'm just not sure if it has a place in this collection, this colour doesn't really scream spring to me I would put it down as more of a autumn/winter colour but that is just my opinion. Again this polish is nice nothing over exciting just nice.

Perennial chic

Perennial chic
Perennial chic is a lovely light pastel peachy orange polish, I really like the colour of this polish its like a neutral with a difference but the consistency of the polish is crap. The was so watery it was running of the brush and flooding my cuticles, it's really a shame that the consistency of this polish is rubbish because it didn't apply streaky or patchy which with this kind of lighter colour sometimes they apply patchy and it only needed two coats, The colour is lovely but the consistency of this polish is so hard to work with that its almost not worth the effort its a real shame.

Picked perfect

Picked perfect
Picked perfect is a caramel milk chocolate colour, the consistency of this polish was on the thinner side but its not as watery as perennial chic. This polish is fully opaque in one coat it wasn't streaky or patchy which is a plus. There's nothing really over exciting about this polish the colour is nice but I'm sure I could find a dupe for it in my collection with a better formula.

My favourite green polishes

I was never the biggest fan of green polish till this year that's why I only have three polishes to share with you.

I am sorry the polish in this picture looks more blue I promise it is green
Sinful colors - Kissy

Sinful colors – Kissy
Kissy is a emerald green polish with silver, grass and lime green micro glitters running through it, the colour of this polish is lovely especially when the light hits it. The consistency of this polish was on the thinner side which did make it slightly harder to paint and I did need 2-3 coats to get it fully opaque, it didn't apply streaky just quite sheer. I know the application of this polish doesn't sound great but the colour I feel is worth it, its not one of the best formulas I own but it isn't the worst either.

I am sorry the polish in this picture looks more blue I promise it is green
Nails inc - Haymarket

Nails inc – Haymarket
Haymarket is a mint green polish, this polish has a good consistency and is opaque in one coat. The polish dries fast and dries demi matte, you can just add top coat if you prefer a glossy finish. I don't really have anything bad to say about this polish, the colours not particularly unique but if your in the market for a mint polish that is fully opaque in one coat you might like this one.

Nicole by O.P.I -  I'll be at the pool

Nicole by O.P.I – I'll be at the pool
I'll be at the pool is a light teal polish with silver micro glitters running through it. I know teal is a green/blue and I know this is my green polish favourites but this teal polish I feel leans more towards green than blue. This polish I feel is more of a topper polish but I did apply it by itself and it took three coats to get it fully opaque. This polish had a good formula it applied nicely, all in all just a nice polish.

I'm sorry my green polishes aren't really diverse, like I said I have just gotten into green polishes and I'm sure if I find a truly amazing green polish I will tell you all about it on this blog.

All that jazz- Picnic in the park collection

Rosy lee
Rosy lee is a peachy baby pink polish with a pearlized finish, I love this colour I think it's the perfect summer neutral with a bit of a difference. The consistency of this polish was ever so slightly on the thinner side but the consistency didn't hinder the application in any way. The first coat was good but not perfect as you would normally expect from a lighter toned polish, I only needed to apply two coats for the polish to be fully opaque . The polish itself did dry demi matte so it would of course benefit from a top coat and a top coat really shows of the pearly sheen but if you like the matte look just don't add a top coat it's personal preference, I would say you can slightly see some brush strokes after two coats but it was nothing major. I really am in love with this colour I would just say maybe take a little more time painting on this polish but trust me it will be worth it for the colour .

Sherbet dab
Sherbet dab is a juicy orange with a slight gold shimmer running through it . The consistency of this polish was good just slightly on the thin side but only slightly, the first coat applied slightly patchy but the second coat fully covered all that. The polish does dry matte and you can ever so slightly see the brush strokes but only on some nails. The gold shimmer running through the polish isn't in your face but I would recommend that you apply a top coat to show off the colour more.

Apples and pears
Apples and pears is a pistachio green polish, I liked the way this polish applied you could paint one coat and it would be fine but I did paint on two coats of polish, it didn't apply patchy or streaky at all. The one thing I'm not the biggest fan of with this polish is the consistency it is on the thinner side but not so thin that it runs off the brush, the thinness of the polish didn't really hinder the application of the polish I just prefer a thicker consistency of polish. If you are looking for a good pistachio green polish that you could just paint one coat for quickness this polish could do the job.

Mr. blue sky
Mr blue sky is a powder blue polish, the colour of this polish reminded me of the dress Elsa from frozen wears .I liked the consistency of this polish it applied lovely it was non streaky and almost fully opaque in one coat. I would say you don't need much polish on your brush when painting this particular polish on your nails. I really like this polish I'm a fan of blue coloured polishes anyway but the formula for this one is good its not patchy and opaque in 1-2 coats which is sometimes harder to find in a lighter blue polish.

Nail polish obsession tag

I have been watching a lot of people on youtube that appreciate nail polish as much as I do and recently some of them have made a certain video, The nail polish obsession tag, which consists of them answering ten questions about nail polish, so I thought I would the tag would make a good blog post, so that's what this post is about

  1. What's your favourite nail polish company? I like nails inc because it's the first brand that got me into nail polish, but I love the colour range of china glaze, they are inexpensive but harder to find in shops in the uk.
  2. Glitter or no glitter? I am not the biggest glitter fan because the removal is a pain but I might wear it occasionally at Christmas but I love the diversity of glitter polishes so I want to wear them more.
  3. O.P.I , China glaze or Essie? Like I said on question one I love the variety of the colours from china glaze.
  4. When do you change your nail polish? Everyday or every other day I like the variety you have with nail polish.
  5. Darks or brights? Both I prefer to wear brights in spring/summer and darks in autumn/winter.
  6. What are you wearing on your nails right now? The heat is on from the desert escape collection from china glaze.
  7. What's your favourite colour on your nails? Any kind of blue polish dark, light, holographic or glitter I just love blue nail polish
  8. Matte nails in or out? I personally don't like to wear matte nail polish I think a gloss finish makes a polish pop.
  9. Do you like French manicures? I don't tend to wear them just because there is so much colour to choose from and I prefer colour on my nails but I think they look nice and elegant.
  10. What's your favourite winter colour? Blue, grey or a nice plum.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this tag if you want to check out some of the youtube videos I have been watching I will post them down below.

China glaze - Desert escape collection

 Don't desert me
Don't desert me is a berry fuchsia simmer polish, the colour of this polish is hard to explain because in certain lights this polish looks more blue/pink and in other lights it looks more purple. The first coat of this polish went on really nicely, it was almost fully opaque in one coat, you do slightly see the brush strokes but you can only see them if you are deliberately looking closely at your nails. I did like this polish it only needed two coats, it wasn't a bad formulation the only thing I think is that the colour in my opinion is more of a autumn/fall colour, but you could definitely wear this polish all year round.

Meet me in the mirage
Meet me in the mirage is a very unique copper shimmer polish with hints of salmon and peach in certain lights. This colour of polish is not one I would normally gravitate to when I'm painting my nails but I was pleasantly surprised . I really liked the colour of this polish it's not like anything I have in my collection. The polish was almost fully opaque in one coat, you could slightly see brush strokes but nothing major. The consistency of the polish is good its not to thick or thin. I really liked this polish the colour is nice and the formula is good .

Rain dance the night away
Rain dance the night away is the perfect balance of a spearmint green and cyan blue. This polish has a lovely consistency it's not to thick or thin, it applies lovely and it was fully opaque in one coat. I really like this polish the colour is a perfect summer colour and the formulation is good, this colour is not unique if you look at other spring/summer nail polish collections you will probably find a colour similar to this one but the formulation of this polish was good it didn't apply streaky and you could apply one coat and get away with it, it also dried quite quickly.

Don't mesa with my heart
Don't mesa with my heart is a cerise pink polish, I have to be honest with you I am not the biggest fan of this polish the consistency if this polish is on the thinner side and it applied streaky and patchy. I had to paint three coats of polish and I still could see some of my nail line. The colour itself is lovely but it's not anything special I'm sure you could find a colour like this from many different brands, unfortunately this isn't the best polish in the collection which is a shame because the rest of the collection is really good.

The heat is on
The heat is on is a bright red polish with a jelly formula. The coverage on the first coat was good it applied non streaky, I painted two coats of polish and could see some of my nail line but nothing major, a third coat might help or applying a white base would also help. The consistency of the polish was good like the majority of the polishes in this collection the consistency was not to thick or thin and the polishes dried quite fast. I am personally not the biggest fan of red nail polish but this is a nice bright red for summer and its very wearable I think it would suit most skin tones.

What's she dune
What's she dune is a light tan polish with a hint of grey. I am not the biggest neutrals fan I love my bright colours but there is something about this colour I like and I can't put my finger on it. This polish applied lovely it almost applied in one coat, the consistency was also good like most of the polishes in the collection it wasn't to thick or thin. The brush on this specific bottle was cut differently than all the other polishes in the collection it was cut in the shape of a doe foot applicator, the shape didn't hinder the application but I don't know if it's supposed to be cut like that or if its supposed to be flatter like the other polish brushes in the collection.
