Things to look forward to in 2016 and a thank you

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has read my blog posts this year I appreciate it so much I know I have been getting readers from everywhere the US, Russia, Ireland, Germany, Canada, Poland, France, Australia, India and the UK thank you everyone of you I want to thank each and everyone of you personally, I do this because I love nail polish and nail products and I want to share with you if they are worth buying or not. Hopefully 2016 will be an amazing year just like 2015 was I am hopefully going to be posting more on my blog and on instagram which I also have been shocked by how much people are following me I have over 1000 followers on instagram which is crazy. I am thinking of maybe posting 4 times a week on my blog, I am thinking of dedicating days mani Mondays which means I would post my previous weeks manicures, treatment Tuesdays or throwback Tuesdays, I would review or talk about the treatment I am using and how I feel about it or review a polish that has been out for a while, thrifty Thursday would be about the nail bargain I have found that week ( you all know I love a bargain) and fresh Fridays/ Friday favorites which would be about the newest products out or the newest things I have bought, or what product/polish I was loving that week just because I can't always buy the newest products. They are just a few ideas I have been having if you have any suggestions please leave your comments down below. I have recently been let go from my job and I have my wedding to plan so you might not get the newest of products but I will try my best to review what I can get my hands on. Like I said please leave your suggestions let me know what you think I should do for my blog and thank you so much for reading my posts in 2015 please keep reading in 2016.

My favorites of 2015

Blogging

This year I started my blog and I have really loved doing it, I am probably the most boring 23 year old ever, I love my home comforts I don't party much I would rather be all cozy at home in my lounge wear than out and about but that does get a bit samey after a while but blogging has just changed my routine and I love it. I may not be the greatest wordsmith in the world but I am passionate about nail polish and nail care items and I hope that comes across in my blog posts, and that is why blogging is one of my favorites this year.

Indie polish

I still love mainstream nail polish brands but I discovered indie nail polish this year and I'm glad I did. The indie market I feel is a lot smaller but indie sellers can experiment more with glitters and colours because they don't have to impress the masses of people, but that's what I love about indie sellers the creativity of there polishes and the variety they produce. I am not the biggest fan of the prices, indie polishes are sightly more on the pricey side and can be harder to buy but I love the diversity.

Cuticle oils/ Cuticle products

I loved and cared for my nails before I started blogging or so I thought, I didn't realize how bad my nails and cuticles were until I started taking close up pictures of my nails for blogging. I invested in cuticle products and now I'm slightly addicted to cuticle oils, balms and butters I'm so addictive I have filled two muji drawers full of just cuticle products. I honestly try to persuade everyone in my life to use cuticle oil because its really beneficial it will help soften your cuticles but it also helps your nails to be healthy and grow and be in the best condition they can be. I can honestly go on for hours about cuticle oils and cuticle products and that's why they are in my yearly favorites.

Monthly nail subscription boxes

I used to be subscribed to glossybox, birchbox and all the usual beauty box suspects and I just never felt like I was getting my moneys worth I was receiving the same products on different months, but this year for me seemed to be the year of monthly nail subscription boxes and I'm addicted I haven't received a double of a product and I feel they are worth their money. I subscribed to three different boxes this year Meebox, Nailbox and the Paint the rainbow box. Meebox and nailbox contain more mainstream brands like nails inc, china glaze, O.P.I and elegant touch and you can get tools and treatments in the boxes but the paint the rainbow box is provided by the site Rainbow connection which sells indie brands, the paint the rainbow box has a different theme each month and the site works closely with the polish brands to make polishes especially for that months box, the paint the rainbow box is slightly on the expensive side but the polishes are one of a kind and made for that specific box and month so I can understand paying a little bit more for that subscription box.

The born pretty store

I didn't find out about this website till a lot later in the year but once you have a look on the site and see the prices and notice the free worldwide shipping the site will get slightly addictive. I wanted to get into nail stamping and be more experimental with nail art and I came across this site and saw that they sell stamping plates at really cheep prices so I decided to get a few, now the only downfall is that your parcel will take 3 weeks maybe longer to arrive because I think they are shipping from Singapore so your parcel might take a little while but they have a lovely customer service and sometimes they pop an extra into your parcel. The prices are really inexpensive a stamping plate can be as little as $0.99 which is 66p which in my eyes is a bargain especially when the postage is free. The site does have a lot of nail art items but they also stock jewelry and beauty products at really good prices I would defiantly advise you check the website out.

I have had a really amazing year and I hope 2016 will be just as good, I hope you all have an amazing healthy and happy 2016.

Sally Hansen - Pacific blue – Reformulated

The reformulated pacific blue is a deep royal blue jelly polish, the polish looks like it has a shimmer in the bottle but the shimmer doesn't really transfer onto the nail. The consistency is quite thin so I would say take your time when applying, I had to apply 4 coats of polish on some of my nails and I still wasn't happy with the finish, the polish applied quite patchy and streaky and sheer. Unfortunately in the swatch picture you can see my nail line on some of my nails and I apologize no polish should take 5-6 coats of polish to be opaque. I don't know why sally Hansen reformulated this polish unfortunately you can't improve perfection, I wouldn't recommend buying this version of pacific blue but if you would like to, I purchased mine for about £3 from ebay

Sally Hansen- Pacific blue ( Original)

Pacific blue is a medium cerulean/denim blue polish but it has a lightness to it like it has a back light integrated into the polish. This polish has a nice consistency its not to thick or to thin, this polish is fully opaque in one coat it doesn't apply patchy or streaky. This is just a lovely polish the colour is nice and it is FULLY opaque in one coat which is why my mind boggles why they decided to reformulate this polish. I did wonder why people on youtube and in blogs praised this polish but now I own it I can say its good, its not the be all and end all of polish its not super unique but it is a nice polish. I found this polish by surprise in a outdoor market in benidorm while I was on holiday so I can't tell you where you can get it but it might turn up somewhere your least expecting.

Cadillacquer – Dreams and dust collection

Nothing burns like the cold

Nothing burns like the cold is a light blue-teal with a very fine holographic glitter. This polish looks different in different lights in some lights the polish looks more blue in others it looks more green. This polish has a good consistency its not to thick or thin, the coverage isn't the greatest the polish applies quite patchy and sheer on the first coat, I would say depending on how thick you apply the polish it will take 2-3 coats to be fully opaque.

Dreams and dust

Dreams and dust is a silver blue grey polish with a very fine holographic glitter. The consistency of the polish is slightly on the thinner side but its nothing to major to worry about. The coverage is patchy on the first coat but I only needed to apply two coats for full opacity.

Wear it like armour

Wear it like armour is a pastel lilac with small to medium copper hex glitters running throughout. This polish is very sheer I applied 3 coats and the second and third coat where thick coats of polish. I did feel the colour of the polish kind of covered up and hid the glitters slightly so it sort of just looked lumpy on the nail, so I would maybe suggest layering this polish over another polish so you could see the copper glitters more. The consistency of the polish was nice, the polish applied lovely.

Where the king goes, the realm follows

Where the king goes, the realm follows is a jade green polish with micro and small gold hex glitters. The consistency of this polish is on the thin side so I would suggest taking your time while applying it because if you have to much on your brush you will flood your cuticles . This polish will take 2-3 coats to be fully opaque I applied 2 for the swatch picture and saw minimal nail line but under the light and in the swatch picture you can see a lot of nail line.

A dragon is not a slave

A dragon is not a slave is a grey brown polish with a rosy pink shift and a fine holo dust running throughout. This is a lovely polish the coverage is good its fully opaque in two coats and the consistency is also good its not to thick or to thin.

Valar Morghulis

Valar Morghulis is purple with a slight hint of red with glitter and flakes and fine holo glitter running throughout, the glitter and flakes are very sparse and the pigmentation covers and hides the glitters and flakes so you don't see them on the nail very well. The coverage is good on this nail polish it is fully opaque in two coats , the consistency is slightly on the thin side so just take your time when applying.

The night is dark and full of terrors

The night is dark and full of terrors is a midnight blue jelly polish with blue glitters. This polish is base heavy which means the glitters sink to the bottom of the bottle, I would suggest turning the bottle upside down and shaking the bottle before applying just so you do get the glitter on your nails. The coverage of this polish is ok it will take 2-3 coats to be fully opaque, I painted 3 coats for the swatch picture and I felt the third coat really deepened the colour, the consistency is ok it is slightly on the thin side but its noting major.

I purchased these polishes from Rainbow connection in the sale, I am not sure if they will still be available when you are reading this post but I will leave the link to cadillacquer on rainbow connection http://rainbow-connection.co.uk/collections/cadillacquer

Leighton denny - I am goddess collection

Queen Hera

Queen Hera is a beautiful metallic multi chrome that changes from gold to olive green to a apple green, also I feel the polish has a slight bronze/deep rose gold shift to it. The consistency of this polish is slightly on the thinner side so I would suggest taking your time when painting it on your nails, I did find the first coat applied patchy and I would say this polish takes 2-3 coats to be fully opaque. I also wanted to mention that because the polish is metallic you can slightly see brush strokes but its noting major.

Venus desire

Venus desire us a chocolate copper polish with micro red glitter running through it. This polish has a good consistency but applies very sheer and patchy on the first coat, this polish takes 2-3 coats of polish to be fully opaque depending on how thick a layer you apply. This polish looks very similar to autumn spice from Revlon parfumerie , venus desire would be a perfect for the autumn/ winter season.

Athena divine

Athena divine in the bottle looks like a sapphire blue with a purple shimmer shift, on the nail this polish is just a sapphire blue polish with blue shimmer unfortunately the purple shimmery shift doesn't come across on the nail at all which is a shame because the shift in the bottle looks nice. The consistency of the polish is slightly on the thin side but its not to hard to work with, this polish only needs two coats to be fully opaque.

Aphrodite's love

Aphrodite's love is a multi chrome shimmer that goes from a copper bronze to a berry pink to a yellow green this is a beautiful polish I was worried it was going to be very similar to Venus desire from this collection but they are totally different. This polish is very sheer on the first coat and I would say depending on how thick a layer you apply it will take 2-3 coats for this polish to be fully opaque but the consistency is good.

Tell me aurora

Tell me aurora is a clear based polish with tons of gold micro glitter with small and medium holographic hexagon glitters. This polish surprised me I thought it was going to be a topper so when I swatched this polish I originally layered it over a black polish then I realized how glitter dense this polish is. I took the black polish off and stared applying this polish by itself, this polish has a thicker consistency but you would expect that from such a dense glitter polish. This polish is opaque in two coats and the finish makes you look like you have disco balls on your nails. I would say be slightly careful when you apply this polish because on some of my nails on the second coat the polish was starting to get thick and clumpy looking.

If you would like to purchase this set I purchased my set from -http://www.musthave.co.uk/leighton-denny-i-am-goddess-collection-nail-colour/

Empties & reviews

Elegant touch moisture balance nail polish remover

This remover is a half and half so you have to shake the bottle to activate the product, this remover does what it says on the tin it removed my nail polish with ease and didn't leave my cuticles dry.

Sally Hansen Acetone free polish remover

This remover is usually my go to nail polish remover, I prefer my remover to be acetone free because it doesn't dehydrate your nails and cuticles as much as a acetone remover this remover removes my polish with ease and isn't to expensive.

Nails inc Vitamin E oil pen x2

These cuticle oil pens are handy just to put in your handbag the brush I feel makes the oil easy to apply. The oil itself is good its moisturizing but doesn't leave a greasy layer on your nails, the oil just sinks in nicely and the smell isn't overpowering the oil just has a slight herbal smell.

O.P.I Avoplex cuticle oil to go

I loved this cuticle oil it has a gel like consistency which I liked and I felt it was super moisturizing and conditioning, again just like the nails inc oil pen this product has a brush applicator which just makes the product easy to apply. I can't put my finger on what this product smells like it smells slightly fruity like watermelon but its not overpowering. I did finish a mini of the bottle of this cuticle oil and it was good but I personally preferred the oil to go tube/brush version I felt it was more moisturizing and I would defiantly buy another one after I finish the 20+ other cuticle oils I have to use up.

Natio spa Heavenly hand cream

I apologize for the bite marks my dogs got a hold of the product
I liked this hand cream I felt the texture/consistency of this product was like a lotion, the consistency wasn't as thick as a cream but it was still moisturizing and sank into my skin fast and didn't leave my hands greasy or slippery. I think this cream would be perfect for a handbag because it sinks in so fast because when your out and about and busy you don't want greasy hands.

Lush Golden handshake

Golden handshake is a hot hand mask I haven't really had much experience with hand masks so I don't have anything to compare this mask with. I did follow the instructions to heating up the product but I did have to help it along by putting it in the microwave for a minute or so, after putting it in the micro the product went thick and custard like the instructions did say to rest your hands in the product but I did end up playing with it squishing it between my hands for about 20-30 minutes. The product does smell nice it smells fresh and my hands did feel super moisturized after taking off the product, also the product has some gold glitter which some of the glitter does transfer to your hands when you wash the product off but it is easily washed off if you would prefer your hands glitter free.

Butter London Horse power

I have reviewed this product on my blog and I will leave the link of that review under this review, I had only used the product for 2-3 weeks in that review and I think for this kind of product you don't really know what you feel about a product until you have used all of it. I did like this product I haven't had a brake in my nails since I have started using it but I have been using cuticle oils and other products in conjunction with this product so I am not sure if my nails not breaking is solely down to this product. Midway though using this product I started using it as a base coat and it worked just fine the product didn't go thick when it neared the end of its life like some other products I have tried in the past.

Superchic laquer - Dreamology collection

No rest for the wicked

No rest for the wicked is a deep emerald green holographic polish, every time I read the name of this polish the song no rest for the wicked by cage the elephant pops into my head. This is a lovely polish it is fully opaque in one coat and there is no streaks and no patchiness. The consistency of this polish is slightly on the thicker side but the polish is still easy to apply, I feel when the polish dries it does dry slightly dull but I would suggest applying a top coat anyway just to make the polish pop. I didn't wear this polish for a full manicure I only wore it for the swatch pictures but the polish didn't stain my nails which is a plus because usually with such pigmented polishes and sometimes darker polishes tend to slightly stain the nails, but I had no problems with staining from this polish.

Realm of erotica

Realm of erotica is a true ruby red holographic polish, when I see this polish I think of Dorothy's red shoes from the wizard of oz. This polish again is fully opaque in one coat the polish doesn't streak or apply patchy. This polish is slightly thick but I did feel realm of erotica wasn't as thick as no rest for the wicked. This polish does dull slightly when it dries so I would suggest a topcoat also a topcoat will make the holo in the polish pop, I am not a big red polish fan but I think this polish would be perfect for winter/ Christmas time.

Lucid La La land

Lucid la la land is a beautiful deep cobalt blue holographic polish. This blog post is going to sound repetitive because again this polish is a one coat wonder, the consistency of this polish is on the thicker side just like the other two polishes I have mentioned in this blog post. Again the polish dulls slightly when it dries so I just suggest applying a topcoat which will also make the polish come to life.

Wake me up

Wake me up is a deep purple/wine holographic polish, every time I read the name of this polish the song wake me up by avicii pops into my head. I feel this polish has the thickest consistency out of all 6 polishes in this collection but it still is easy to apply, again this polish has the same formulation as the other polishes I have mentioned in this collection, this polish is fully opaque in one coat and when the polish dries it slightly dulls but I would apply a glossy top coat anyway.

40 Winks

40 Winks is a gorgeous deep amethyst holographic polish. This polish has the same quality's as the other polishes in this collection, this polish is fully opaque in one coat and the polish slightly dulls when it is dry. I feel this polish has the thinnest consistency out of all 6 polishes in this collection, this polish isn't thin and runny I would say it has a normal consistency but out of all the polishes in this particular collection it is the thinnest, it is still easy to apply though so I wouldn't worry about the consistency.

R.E.M

R.E.M is a graphite black/grey holographic polish, I would say this polish isn't the blackest of blacks but it is still quite deep, just like all the other polishes in this collection this polish is fully opaque in one coat, the polish has a thick consistency and also like the others in this collection the polish slightly dulls when it dries but a glossy topcoat will fix that.

Revlon - Fascinate

Fascinate is a lovey purple polish with a blue shimmer that makes the polish look like a blue/purple duo chrome. This polish is similar to sinful colors lets talk which I reviewed last week but fascinate is a lot deeper and has more blue in it. The consistency is quite thin and the polish does apply very patchy, I would say it takes 3 coats to get this polish fully opaque but the end result is lovely.

Revlon - Indigo night

Indigo night is a medium blue polish this polish has decent coverage on the first coat but its not fully opaque so I would suggest two coats of polish, the polish doesn't apply patchy or streaky but the consistency isn't the greatest. The consistency is on the thinner side so I would suggest taking your time while applying a plus is that this polish didn't stain my nails when I removed it.

Revlon - Rain forest

Rain forest is a deep forest green polish with small gold flakies running through the polish. This polish hasn't got the best formulation it is a jelly polish and the first coat is sheer and patchy, I would say it takes 3 coats to make this polish fully opaque also the consistency isn't the greatest it is quite thin so just take your time while applying. The finish is lovely and the polish doesn't stain when you remove it just be careful when removing the polish because the flakies will go everywhere but maybe I am just messy at taking my polish off.

Tuesday 24 November 2015

Revlon - Bold sangria

Bold sangria is a beautiful aubergine unfortunately the picture makes the polish look a lot darker, trust me you can see more of the purple/aubergine colour in person. The consistency isn't the best it is on the thinner side I would suggest taking your time when applying because the polish tends to run down the brush. The coverage for the first coat is decent but the second coat makes the polish fully opaque. I think this is a lovely autumn/winter colour it doesn't stain your nails when you choose to remove it which is a plus because some darker colours like purples, blues, reds and greens tend to stain your nails slightly but this polish didn't stain my nails.

Revlon - Blue slate

Blue slate is a medium blue/grey, also I feel this polish has slight green undertones. This polish applied lovely it is fully opaque in one coat and the polish applied with no streaks and no patches. The consistency is slightly thicker but not so thick that its to hard to work with, I would say the polish in the bottle looked a lot lighter than what applied on the nail, in the bottle the polish looks like a grey with a slight hint of blue but on the nail the polish has more blue and is a lot deeper. I would also like to mention the bush, I love this polishes brush the brush is slightly wider than some brushes but not as wide as a rimmel brush, I think personally for me the revlon brush has a perfect wideness, and also the tip is rounded which also helps with application.

Sinful colors - Ciao Bella

Ciao Bella is a bright sapphire blue with a blue shimmer. The consistency of this polish is good and the coverage is decent on the first coat, I would say depending on how thick you apply this polish it will take 2-3 coats to make the polish fully opaque. There is not much to say about this polish it applied lovely and the polish doesn't stain your nails when you remove it from your nails.

Sinful colors - Inkwell

Inkwell is a really deep plum with a hint of grey that will look black in some lights. This polish doesn't have the best formula it does apply patchy and will take 2-3 coats to make this polish fully opaque it will just depend on how thick a layer you apply, the polish does have a good consistency and the polish doesn't stain the nail which is a plus.

Lets talk is a unique polish in some lights the polish looks purple and in other lights the polish looks blue also this polish has a slight red and silver shimmer running through it. This polish has a good consistency its not to thick or thin but the polish does apply quite patchy, It does take this polish 2-3 coats to be fully opaque depending on how thick a layer you apply to make . This polish does look lovely I certainly don't think I have anything like this polish in my collection.

Sinful colors - Nirvana

Nirvana is a medium milk chocolate brown polish, the consistency is on the thinner side but the coverage is good, if you are in a hurry you could paint one coat of this polish and it would be fine but I painted two coats because it deepens the colour slightly. This polish applied nicely it didn't apply streaky or patchy.

Sally hansen - Pronto purple

Pronto purple is a beautiful medium purple with a pink shimmer. This polish has a good consistency its not to thin or thick and its fully opaque in one coat. The polish does dry demi matte so I would suggest applying a top coat to make this polish really pop, I would also suggest taking your time while applying just because the brush is wider than most nail polish brushes.
